Being a traditional guy myself, I'm not a big fan of change. So I was a bit surprised to see the number of modern mens wedding rings for sale today. In my recollection, the only rings a man ever wore were made from white or yellow gold, some with a milgrain edge and some simply domed and polished. I had never heard of some of the popular metals being used in men's jewelry, so when my fianc and I took a look at some rings last weekend, we were both shocked to see so many modern and alternative styles on display.

At first, when I saw the black titanium rings and the tungsten rings with colored carbon fiber insets, I thought "these don't look like wedding rings to me," but once I tried one on, I instantly changed my mind. The thought of wearing a ring that is just a little different from everyone else's appealed to me. After all, how many traditional gold rings can you look at before they all start to look the same? I decided that if I'm going to be looking at this ring every day for the rest of my life, it better be something special.
Just then, the jeweler came out and explained to us the differences between titanium and tungsten, cobalt chrome and stainless steel. He let me try on several different styles and get a feel for which one felt "just right" on my left ring finger. I must have sounded a little like Goldilocks when I told my fianc that the titanium ring was too light, the tungsten ring was too heavy, but the cobalt chrome wedding band was "Just right"
Luckily, we decided not to buy the ring right then and there. Instead, we agreed to shop around and look at prices online for comparable rings. The first web site I found was one called Just Men's Rings that had an incredible selection of cobalt chrome rings, as well as every other alternative metal. Even for their designer cobalt rings, none were priced over $200, and most were under $150.
We decided this is the place where we will be buying my wedding band, but my fianc liked it so much, she decided she wanted one too. Unfortunately, there wasn't a comparable online store for her at least not yet but I'm thrilled to have found out about the affordably priced modern mens wedding rings.
